The single best idea for reforming K-12 education
Given this context, I believe that the single most important idea for reform in K-12 education concerns a change in goal. The goal needs to shift from one of making a system that teaches children a curriculum more efficiently to one of making the system more effective by inspiring lifelong learning in students, so that they are able to have full and productive lives in a rapidly shifting economy.

Primero abandonando un sistema que ha sido muy reglado, de los que más en la OCDE, que les impone a los profesores no sólo qué hacer sino también un currículo sobrecargado. E instaurando otro que ponga el énfasis en la capacidad de los estudiantes para extrapolar lo que saben y aplicar sus conocimientos. Con un currículo tan extenso y detallado los profesores tienen que dedicar la mayor parte de su tiempo a recorrer su contenido, sin poder entrar en él con profundidad. En los sistemas con más éxito aprendes menos cosas con mayor profundidad y aprendes a usar ese tipo de conocimientos.
